In a world where everything seems to be outsourced and price is king, STUA has chosen a different path. We are committed to our team and our factory, and to producing with 100% European raw materials.

Today we see how furniture designs become more uniform, and the style is valued above all. But style is temporary. Good design, however, endures. At STUA we stand by the value of each of our pieces. Behind every piece of furniture lies a creative process that, in many cases, takes years of work. We aim to contribute something singular with truly timeless designs.

While fashion is increasingly permeating the home, we believe that a house is built to last. That is why we identify ourselves as creators of slow design. Furniture whose value endures.

We are a family company

Jesús Gasca and Marina Quevedo founded STUA in 1983 and now the company is in the hands of the second generations with Elen Gasca as CEO and Jon Gasca as creative lead.

Based near San Sebastian

Our showroom and factory are in Astigarraga near San Sebastian, a great city for food and amazing landscape.

We are the manufacturers of our design collection in our factory of Astigarraga, with european materials.

Over our 40 years of history, STUA has created 20 different designs. Each design has been crafted to bring something new and inspiring.

Our designs are made for ourselves, for people. They are full of curves and sensuality, while the inside is strong for the contract market.

Inspired

Our family has worked together with the Balenciaga fashions designer, who did shared with us that the detail of a  beautiful design needs to be in tha back. That is why all our designs are nice from the back.

Jesús Gasca

San Sebastian, 1939.
Jesús Gasca is the founder and principal designer of STUA, a contemporary furniture company based in the resort town of San Sebastían, Spain. STUA prides itself on producing a limited range of furniture, with each piece exquisitely executed out of the finest materials. The style of the work can be characterised as Scandinavian with a Mediterranean touch.

The company’s mission is “to improve the habitat in which we live, by refining our designs, and using recyclable components and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.” Contemporary pieces of high technology and simple shapes. Always thinking about the function objects have to have, but with shapes that are new and as close to the user as possible.

STUA which Gasca founded in the early ’80s, has allowed him to develop his own work as a furniture designer. Trained as an engineer, Gasca specialises in technically complex design with attention to detail. Gasca’s recent designs include the Onda stool, Globus Chair, Sapporo Shelving System, Gas Chair and the Deneb Collection.

Jon Gasca

Jon Gascas, trained as Industrial Engineer in the Universidad de Navarra. Jon Gasca is the son of Jesus Gasca, the founder of STUA. Jon has developed all his designs in STUA. The style of his creations is contemporary while timeless.

The extendo of his work has extended to art director and head of communication of STUA for more than 20 years. He has edited the books “A Simple Way”, “Travel Journal” and “New Classics”.

Josep Mora

Barcelona, 1951-2020.
Josep Mora engineer has been teacher in the prestigious design school of Elisava in Barcelona.

His design is always linked to very technical and clever solutions related to movement. Maybe this is the reason why he has designed a number of bicycles. The latest of them is a wooden version produced for the Camper shoe company.

He designed both versions of the Egoa chair for STUA, the fixed frame model and the version on castors. Both chairs embody a deceptively simple but intelligent and sophisticated mechanism.

Josep was the type of human that would move to Rwanda to help the disabled children from war. He would use any chair he could find on the street to create unique wheelchairs, and that would change the life of those kids. He even created a handbook so that local people could continue his work.

STUA is a family business founded by Jesús Gasca and Marina Quevedo in 1983 and located in Astigarraga. Today, the second generation leads the company: Elena Gasca and Jon Gasca.

STUA is a Spanish manufacturer of designer furniture that offers a collection of contemporary pieces: chairs, tables, stools, armchairs, sofas and outdoor furniture. The STUA collection is suitable for both residential and commercial environments.

STUA is a responsible manufacturer. From our new headquarters in Astigarraga, STUA is committed to creating timeless and durable designs. This is part of our commitment to sustainable production. New recycling tools, the use of solar energy, clean processes and the search for plastic-free packaging are some of the measures we are taking to achieve this.
